Henderson 101: What’s it like living here?

golf field

Located just 16 miles from the Las Vegas Strip, sunny Henderson is the venue of many unique attractions. First, it is where you’ll find two manmade lakes: Railroad Lake and Lake Las Vegas. Second, the city is home to as many as 70 parks, as well as nature trails for sightseeing, biking, and jogging that span 180 miles if connected from end to end. Third, the golf courses here are among the loveliest in the state.

But there’s still more to look forward to in Henderson. From 24/7 gated communities to near-perfect weather all year, here are the perks of living in the second-largest city in Nevada:

Master-Planned Communities

Henderson is considered one of the best places to live in Nevada. Apart from being #2 to Las Vegas’ #1 standing as the largest city in Nevada, it has been named the second safest city in the whole country by Forbes.

The city’s master-planned neighborhoods draw people from all walks of life, but what sets them apart is not just the 24-hour security but also the strong sense of community that permeates in each neighborhood.

Despite being a populous city, residents get along with each other through their shared interests. Each neighborhood has its own clubhouse where locals have every opportunity to bond with each other through playing a game of golf, going to the same fitness center, or enjoying live music together.

Stunning Golf Courses

There’s no better place to go than Henderson if you’re after a world-class golfing experience. Renowned courses can be found at almost every turn, giving pros and newbies alike a chance to sharpen their skills in some of the country’s most scenic golfing venues. Full-service courses are available here, as well as venues with nearby restaurants and bars for the complete experience.

Luxury Homes

With Henderson’s gated communities come an array of luxury homes. First-rate neighborhoods like the Ascaya, MacDonald Highlands, Anthem Country Club, and many more offer stunning million-dollar estates and some of the most highly-coveted addresses in the city.

Real estate in Henderson typically features custom homes, spacious single-family houses, and modern properties with private spas, infinity pools, contemporary kitchens, state-of-the-art technology, and climate-controlled garages.

Living in Henderson, NV has its own pros and cons, just as in many other areas. The high-end nature, special amenities, and safety and security that many of the gated communities possess  here result in higher-than-average home values. Then again, Henderson more than makes up for this with the next perk.

No Income Tax

While the cost of living in Henderson, NV may be higher than usual, residents of Nevada get to enjoy plenty of tax benefits. You won’t need to worry about paying individual income tax as gaming taxes and sales taxes bolster Nevada’s revenue.

With the state’s property tax abatement law in place, homeowners have stronger purchasing power, as well as a buffer from steep property taxes that could go as high as 3% every year. Nevada also has one of the lowest property tax rates in the country.
